At committee: North American free trade deal ratification, forced sterilization and Mackenzie Valley resource management – iPolitics

With the House poised to give its preliminary approval of the government’s plan to ratify the new North American free trade deal, INTERNATIONAL TRADE members kick off a lightning-round pre-study of the contents with an extended half-day session with key stakeholders and interest groups, including the Business Council of Canada, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association and the Canadian-Agri-food Alliance, Unifor, the Assembly of First Nations and the Council of Canadians.

Over at JUSTICE, Conservative MP James Bezan’s backbench bid to tighten sentencing rules goes to clause-by-clause review, while HEALTH continues to explore the issues surrounding Canada’s past forced sterilization policies.
