RCMP say two officers responded just after midnight on Monday to a complaint of shots being fired on the Samson First Nation reserve south of Edmonton.

RCMP say the two Mounties were searching on foot when there was a confrontation with two suspects and a police weapon was discharged.

The injured suspect was taken to an Edmonton medical facility for treatment and the second suspect was found unharmed.

RCMP say no officers were hurt and there was no concern for public safety.
